October is Medford's community season
Right now, Medford is in the middle of its busiest stretch of the year. The Greater Medford Multicultural Fair fills Pear Blossom Park this Saturday, September 26, from 10 AM to 4 PM, with food, music, dance, and booths from across the community. And if that weekend looks like a full calendar, October is even bigger: nearly every weekend has a festival, a farm event, or a market somewhere in the Rogue Valley, and most of them are free.
This post is the October rundown, with real dates, real venues, and real organizers. Everything here is accurate as of this writing, and community calendars do shift, so the last section covers how to confirm before you head out.
Saturday, October 3: a triple-header
October 3 is the kind of day that makes this valley easy to love, because you have to choose where to start. In Talent, the 55th annual Talent Harvest Festival runs 10 AM to 4 PM in the downtown area around Talent City Hall at 110 E Main Street. It is free, with a large farmers and artisan market, live music, family activities, and food trucks, and for runners the SOR Running 5K and 10K start from City Hall at 8 AM the same morning.
Meanwhile in Central Point, the Happy Tails Festival opens at 10 AM at Robert J. Pfaff Park, 635 Manzanita Street. Organized by Southern Oregon's Best, it is a free day for dog lovers with an obstacle course, costume and talent contests, a dog parade, a kids zone, live music, and food trucks.
Back in Medford, the Makers Market holds a fall edition at Pheasant Fields Farm on October 3 and 4, a vendor market that pairs neatly with the farm's seasonal festival.
Pheasant Fields Farm, every October weekend
For a classic pumpkin-patch day, Pheasant Fields Farm at 1865 Camp Baker Road in Medford runs its Harvest Festival on weekends from Saturday, September 26 through Sunday, October 25, 10 AM to 4 PM. The lineup is pure fall: a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, hayrides, a cow train, a petting zoo, and a pumpkin cannon.
It is the kind of place where the plan is simple: pick a pumpkin, get lost in the maze, and let the kids run until it is time for something warm on the way home.
Friday, October 9: Doodle Palooza at Walkabout Brewing
Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities is hosting a Yappy Hour on Friday, October 9 from 6 to 9 PM at Walkabout Brewing Company, 921 Mason Way. The evening pairs the brewery's taproom with a dog-friendly party, which is exactly as fun as it sounds.
It is part of the city's fall activity lineup, so check the City of Medford events page for details like food specials before you go.
Third Friday, October 16: downtown in Vogel Plaza
The Downtown Medford Association's monthly Third Friday gathering fills Vogel Plaza from 4 to 8 PM on the third Friday of the month, and in October that falls on the 16th. The summer and fall editions, including the September 18 market, have brought local makers, food, and live music to the heart of downtown.
This is the easiest event of the month to reach from 612 S Ivy St, because downtown is about a half-mile walk from the front door. Confirm the October edition on the association's calendar, since schedules can vary with the season.
The Halloween stretch: October 23 through 25
The last full weekend of the month is a run of family fun. On Friday, October 23, Medford Parks and Recreation holds its annual Howl-O-Ween party from 6 to 9 PM; past events have filled Rogue X with games and costumes, and the city's events page lists this year's venue and details.
The same weekend, the Makers Market hosts its Harvest Market at Hillcrest House, the event venue on the Hillcrest Orchard grounds at 3283 Hillcrest Road in east Medford, from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25, with more than 100 artisans and local boutiques.

Worth the drive: Art Along the Rogue
If you want to stretch the weekend, the City of Grants Pass hosts Art Along the Rogue from Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4, a free three-day chalk-art and music festival about 30 miles west of Medford. Chalk artists turn sidewalks into galleries while musicians play through the weekend.
It is an easy day trip on Interstate 5, and it makes a lovely bookend to a Saturday already full of markets.
